Dial-up modem configuration: OSX

- Select 'System Preferences...' from the Apple Menu in the top left corner of the screen or click on the System Preferences icon in the Dock.

- Click the Network icon in the System Preferences window.

- Select 'Network Port Configurations' from the 'Show' drop down menu. (On older versions of Mac OS X the selection reads 'Active Network Ports'). Make sure your modem is active by checking the box next to its name.

- Select your modem from the 'Show:' drop down menu.
- Step 5 of 10
- Click the 'PPP' tab and enter your account details.
- If you don't want to have to enter your password every time you connect to the Internet then check the 'Save Password' checkbox.

- If you would like the computer to connect to the Internet automatically then click the 'PPP Options...' button.
- Check the box at the top titled 'Connect automatically when needed'. (In older versions of Mac OS X the checkbox may read 'Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications').
- Click 'OK' to dismiss the 'PPP Options' sheet.

- Click the 'TCP/IP' tab and select 'Using PPP' from the 'Configure' drop down menu.

- Click the 'Proxies' tab and make sure that all checkboxes are clear except for 'Use Passive FTP Mode'.

- Click the 'Modem' tab and make sure your modem is selected in the 'Modem' drop down menu.
- Check the box titled 'Show modem status in menu bar'.
- Click the 'Apply Now' button.

- To initiate a connection select 'Connect' from the modem icon in the menu bar
