Dial-up Modem Configuration: Windows Vista

Important

Optus Customers with Windows Vista please follow this guide instead of using the CD.

New Customer - create a new account

To initially setup your service - whether a monthly or Pre-Paid account - simply call 1300 301 325. Please ensure you have your computer turned on and the serial number and Key IDs included in your starter kit close at hand. Then, once you have your username and password, follow the step below to connect to the Internet.

Existing Customers - setting up your Internet connection

If you have an active username and password, follow the steps below to connect to the Internet.

  • Click the Windows Start icon in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Then select Network

  • In the Network window, select Network and Sharing Center

  • In the Tasks panel, select Set up a connection or network

  • Highlight Set up a dial-up connection and select Next

  • Enter 0198 331 111 dialling number
  • Enter your username and password
  • Check Show characters and Remember password
  • Enter a name for the connection
  • Click Connect

Step 6 of 8

The connection to the Internet is ready to use.

  • Select Close

You now need to select the connection you just created in order to access the Internet.

  • Click Start Menu
  • Select Connect To

Step 8 of 8

The Connect to a network item will display all connection types.

  • Highlight the Optus Internet option
  • Click the Connect button

Connection Complete!
Your modem should now be configured and connected to the Optus Dial-up service.
