Coverage & Speed
You can access OptusZoo on the Optus GSM and 3G/HSDPA networks. Some services such as streaming may not be available when in GSM Mode. The Optus 3G/HSDPA Network is available in metropolitan areas of Sydney, NSW Central Coast, Canberra, Melbourne, Geelong, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Adelaide and Perth. The 3G/HSDPA network is constantly expanding. You can click here to view the 3G coverage maps or use our online locator to check your street address.
You can also enjoy faster data speeds using the Optus Wireless Broadband network which is available throughout the 3G/HSDPA network. The Optus Wireless Broadband network uses HSDPA technology on the Optus 3G network and will provide a maximum download speed on 3G/HSDPA of up to and between 3Mbps and 3.6Mbps. Based on Optus network testing, you can expect speeds between 500kbps and 1.5Mbps. Actual speeds will vary and may be slower. Many factors affect speeds such as your distance from the mobile tower, the capacity and load of the mobile tower, which bearer you are currently using (GSM, 3G/HSDPA), your hardware and software, the source of your download, and general internet traffic. The service is subject to network availability. You will not receive Broadband speeds in GSM coverage areas or in NT and TAS. Click here to view Wireless Broadband Coverage.
