Man accused of Balibo killings stays away from inquiry 7:37 AM February 28
A former Indonesian special forces officer accused of leading the killing of five journalists in Balibo 32 years ago says he will not attend the coronial inquiry that is under way in Sydney.
Mohammed Yunus Yosfiah says he has not yet received a letter from coroner Dorelle Pinch inviting him to give evidence at the inquiry into the death of Brian Peters.
Mr Peters was a British journalist killed in Balibo in East Timor in 1975, along with four other Australian-based newsmen.
Mr Yosfiah, a former government information minister, says he has no interest in giving evidence via a videolink either.
Mr Yosfiah repeated earlier claims that he has never met or seen the dead men, despite testimony from numerous witnesses. Source: ABC
